The one where celebrities change they way they look

In 2008, it is amazing that we have the kind of technology that can completely change a picture with a simple click of the mouse. Celebrities love this technology because they can now change anything they want on a picture that is going to be shown to the public so that they are happy with the final product. What is this telling little girls; that if you have something you don’t like about yourself, you should hide or fix it? It seems as though that it doesn’t matter that everyone is beautiful in their own way, all that matters is that you look good in the public’s eye.

Most recently, it was discovered that OK! Magazine’s April issue, that pictures Britney Spears with the Headline “Britney lost 15 lbs. in just 4 weeks”, was falsified. They were stating that Britney looked the same way she was pictured, due to her diet, the problem is that the picture was taken in 2003, five years before her “amazing” weight loss. The cut-and-paste technique used is not inspirational to the readers, it’s just telling them that if you have old pictures where you think you look better, you should use them instead of showing people the person you are today.

Society is not stupid; it has become evident that celebrities use Photoshop in order to create an image and maintain it. That’s fine if it is for your personal collection, but when you have young fans in an age where anorexia and plastic surgery is at an all time high, then you should show yourself in the truest form without any digital upgrades.

The one where the celebrities decide to drive drunk

We have all heard of and seen celebrities getting special treatment because of their status in Hollywood, but what we are seeing more of now are celebrities getting arrested (like they should) for drinking and driving. Celebrities think that they can get away with a lot more than the general public because that is what the past has proven, however by celebrities getting arrested, even if it is for a short amount of time, it is proving that if they drink and drive, they’ll have consequences just like everyone else.

The most recent celebrity that was caught drinking and driving was Chad Kroeger from Nickelback. He was .6% over the legal limit and was set a date to come into court but decided to skip it. Now he will be faced a sentence and most likely have to spend some time in jail.

At least the police are not letting them pass because of the fact that they are celebrities and that an incident like this might scar their reputation. The only problem is that their punishment is so minimal.

If celebrities commit any crime then they receive the exact same punishments as any other citizen. Their name should not be a factor into how many days they do in jail, how much money they are willing to dish out for bail, and how much hassle the courts will get during the trial. Celebrities are human beings and human being make mistakes, but some mistakes have consequences, and this consequences should not be amended because of your social status.

The one with all the reality copycats

Ever notice when a reality show becomes popular in the United States, that the exact same show is produced in a different country? This just signifies that what the United States does through its media, doesn’t only effects their country, but if its popular enough, then other countries pick it up and try to have that same response.

The most recent reality show that is being picked up by another country is The Hills. Britain is holding auditions in order to find a cast and hoping to have all the drama and all the reviews that the American Hills received.

This is not the first time that we see this; Amercian Idol is the perfect example. The Idol craze has lead Canada, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates to include this reality show into their programing agenda. Even American Idol was a spin-off from the series that started in the U.K. From this talent show, came a franchise that has sparked the ideas from many countries and it does not seem like it is going away anytime soon.

Another reality show that has received attention from other countries is Big Borther. Here’s a reality show that brings complete starngers together in order to live in a house and vote each other off so that they can win money in the end. The American version is now on its ninth season and seeing that it has been so widely liked and caused so much controversy, countries like the U.K., Sweden, Poland, Australia, Africa, and Pinoy have created their own Big Brother for some enjoyment.

This is a not coincidence, the fact that countries are copying each other’s reality shows, proves that if something is popular in one country, then other countries are going to be following the trend and hoping for the same response. Popularity can be translated in many languages, but they all mean the same thing; money coming in the bank.

The one where Paris Hilton is overexposed?

Everywhere you look, every magazine you read, and every goosip coloum that you look at; Paris Hilton will be somewhere posing for the cameras. The question is, does Paris Hilton look for this media attention or does the media find her in order to get their stories? Yes, she does create scenes and has made a trademark of herself, but without her, the media wouldn’t get half the gossip that they get now.

Forbes has recently declared Paris Hilton as the most everexposed celebrity. She won 70% of the votes, proving that her reality shows, perfumes, handbags, and guest appearances have definitely not gone unnoticed.

Celebrities included in the lists are:

3. Nicole Richie

Even though Hilton has all these things going on in her life that is media worthy, the fact that the public loves seeing her in the press, makes the paparazzi chase her as much as they do.

If the public hated her, didn’t read the articles written about her and didn’t show up by the thousands at shows that she was to guest appear on, then they would continue on to the next big star.

If a celebrity is hot in the public’s eye, then they are hot in the media’s eye as well. If they can get so many stories just from one star, then they will milk that star for as much as they are worth.

The one where marriage is not such a big deal

We all can’t have what the celebrities have or have the ability to do what they do, but there is some contemplations that they go through that we are able to understand. In this instance, the contemplation is about marriage. Just because they are in the media’s eye and have fans that look u to them, does that mean that they have to get married to the person they are with for a long time? If they don’t feel that it’s necessary, then they should do what they feel is best, even if it means that remain a couple without being married.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are the top of the list of celebrity couples that have choosen not to get married, and even though this doesn’t mean that they’ll never get married, it just means that for the time being they are happy they way they are.

Here’s a couple that have four children together (1 biologically and 3 adopted) and two more on the way, and even though there’s been rumors that they will get married, it seems as though they are happy without that status.

This reflects what is also going on in society in general. Some couples believe that their relationship is perfect the way it is and doesn’t think that a marriage will make it any stronger. Others are not getting married as a political stand because of all the controversy that is going on with the ability for homosexuals not being able to get married; they believe that if they are not allowed to get married then they won’t either.

What ever the reason is, both celebrities and everyday people prove that they don’t have to get married because it’s considered a normal thing to do in society. In the end, it’s their relationship and if they want to certify it then they should be able to, but if they choose not to, then, it is again, a choice for them to make.

The one with all the nude pictures

Aren’t you ever worried that if you take some provocative pictures of yourself, that they’ll some how get exposed to the world? Well it certainly looks like some celebrities didn’t take that into consideration. They all claim that it was a mistake, and that they didn’t want them to be exposed so that everyone could see them, but this could just be another publicity stunt to get their names in the media.

Here’s some stars that were definitely exposed in the media:

1. Marcia Cross: The Desperate Housewives’ star stated that her husband took the pictures of her naked and that she threw them away in her trash, not expecting anyone to go through it and find them. That may be true, but if you have paparazzi constantly following you, wouldn’t you burn the photos instead of just throwing them away? You would think so.

2. Vanessa Hudgens: The High School Musical star, who is barely old enough for it not to be considered child pornography, claims that the photos were meant for her and her boyfriend, however, they were somehow leaked on the Internet. She was forced to apologize, merely for the fact that she has so many young fans, and even though she seems very embarassed by the situation, she is still constantly in the media and has even more movie roles than she had before.

3. Audrina Patridge: The Hills star stated that the photos, that are now surfacing, were taken when she finished high school and wanted to start a modeling career. She is playing the naive card and says that she trusted people not to expose them, but now that they are exposed, there is talk about her posing for Playboy. Is this a coincidence? Probably not.

What do these three stars all have in common? All their names are still heard in the media and these “scandals” didn’t effect their careers at all, if anything, it brought on new prospects. The truth is that if you are a celebrity, anything media-worthy that you have done, will be exposed, but, in this case, it turns out to have positive consequences.

The one with all the reality shows

In the last couple of years, reality shows have hit an all time high and what we are seeing more recently are the reality shows that involve celebrity families. They claim that they want the world to know that they’re a normal family, but the truth is that they either want to create a better fan base for themselves or to make their family look better in the media.

The most recent family that has stated that they are going to start their own reality show is Lindsay Lohan’s mother and sister. Even though Lindsay claims that she will not appear in the show, the fact that she is constantly in the media and that she has such a bad reputation, brings up the specualtion that they want to start the show at a peak of her fame and use it to promote themselves, proving that that they are not as crazy as Lindsay is.

Here’s some other celebrity families that have used a reality show for their own purposes:

1. The Hogans: Their reality show “Hogan Knows Best” convenienty came at a time when Hulk was no longer a wrestler and his children were creating a name for themselves. Brooke made her album and Nick was trying to become a racer, and the cameras were there to catch it all.

2. Snoop’s Dogg’s family: He claimed that he wanted his show “Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood” to show that he’s a normal dad when he’s not working. However, it didn’t seem like a coincidence that he was making his new album at the same time, and it seemed to be the oppertunity to costantly promote it on the show.

3. The Osbournes: Though their antics weren’t exactly normal and self-promoting on their self-entitled show, they still kept their names in everyone’s ears.

Celebrities may say that their shows are meant to be about the truth, but the truth is that all their shows have selffish purposes. If celebrities can’t get the media’s attention naturally, they might as well create a show to do it for them.

The one where the sex tapes are exposed

If you’re a celebrity, there’s one thing that you can be sure of, you can never keep things hidden for very long. You would think that one of the worst things that can happen to ruin your reputation, is if a secret sex tape was exposed to the world. But would a sex tape ruin or promote a celebrity’s status? Well according to stars that had to deal with this in the past, the answer is that any press is good press.

Lindsay Lohan has been the latest celebrity who had a sex tape exposed on the Internet. She claims that she had no idea that she was being filmed while she was was with her ex-boyfriend but is that just an act or did she need a little more lime light than she already has.

Here’s a list of other celebs that made that turned their sex tapes into instant fame for themselves:

1. Paris Hilton: The sex tape was starring her and her then-boyfriend Rick Saloman. Since it’s 2004 release, Paris Hilton has sky-rocketed into fame and even if she will always be known for her role in the film, she will always make headlines.

2. Pamela Anderson: Her and her husband at the time, Tommy Lee, made a sex tape and they have become the legends of celebrity sex tapes. They have become most downloaded sex tape by celebrity couple and they remain being praised for roles in the film.

3. Kim Kardashian: Before the tape of her and her then-boyfriend, Ray J, appeared for the world to see, Kim was unheard of. Even though she was an heir, like her friend, Paris Hilton, she remained unnoticed until her debut in the sex film. Since then, she is all over magazines and even has her own reality show.

From these scenarios, this proves that even pornography can make a celebrity more famous than they already are. If you are talked about, for what ever purpose, you are still getting the attention you want and creating higher celebrity status.

The one where a divorce pays off

We have all heard about the trouble that comes with a divorce, but you can add plenty more of problems if one or both of you are celebrities. If you are a celebrity, then a pre-nup should be a must. Not just because it saves you from all of the troubles in court, but because both parties have a set agreement of how the money is split.

Celebrities should learn from other stars who have made the mistake of not getting pre-nups:

1. Paul McCartney and Heather Mills: After four years of marriage, it was decided in March of 2008, after their divorce, that Mills was going to receive 50 million dollars. This meant that she made more than 12 million dollars per year that they were married.

2. Michael Jordan and Juanita Jordan: They were married for 17 years, had 3 children together, and it was settled in 2007 that Juanita would get a settlement of 168 million dollars. They has been said to be the biggest settlement of celebrity history and proves that even though you believe you will spend the rest of your life with someone and create a family with that person, it doesn’t mean that it will last forever.

3. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline: After 2 years of marriage and two children, Federline received 1 million dollars plus half of what ever property they sold. Even after their divorce, Federline went from a back-up dancer who was not known by anyone, to a rapper, actor, and celebrity. He became rich and famous only because of the woman he married.

These incidents prove that taking procautions is never a bad thing to do. It’s true that the other person will think that you don’t trust them, bit it the end, it will all be worth it.

The one with the growing religion

We have all heard of the most common religions, such as, christianity, muslim, and protestant. However, according to the celebrities, there is a new, fast-growing religion; scientology. A lot of celebrities are joinging this religion but is it because of the fact that they have the same beliefs that the religion does or is it because of the fact that Tom Cruise is a recruiter? Most likely Tom Cruise is a major factor.

It’s hard not to notice that everytime you hear about a celebrity converting to scientology, you automatically hear Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ names following it.

They have the ability to be in the press all of the time, they have plenty of celebrity friends, and they are able to influence those around to convert to Scientology because they have that status of celebrity to lure people in.

So what does this say about celebrities? It says that they can be just as easily influenced as we could. Tom Cruise is always in the press and if he decides to try to include you in his religion, then you will be the next people in the press beside him.

In the celebirty world, any press is good press. If some celebrities are getting more of it for what ever reason, then it is most likely that celebirties lower in status will try and re-invent themselves in order be be in the spotlight. In this case, re-inventing means changing your religion.
